Thank You For Giving
As a loyal supporter of Payne Theological Seminary, you know our mission is to produce ministerial leaders who are committed to liberation, reconciliation, social justice, and the dignity of all humankind. What you may not be aware of is our vision to become a global leader in distance education, a pursuit significantly advanced this academic year thanks to collaboration among the Seminary’s faculty and library staff. Now, as we conclude the 2017-18 fiscal cycle, I seek your assistance so we may flourish as an online seminary that makes significant contributions to the ecumenical and global influence of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Last month Payne Seminary conducted its 125th Commencement Ceremony, during which we conferred sixteen Doctor of Ministry degrees upon our inaugural doctoral class, and bestowed thirty-five Masters of Divinity degrees. These fifty-one individuals now join the ranks of Payne alumni who are fashioning “digital disciples” among the Church’s tech-forward Millennials, and are employing liberation theology to empower the downtrodden, to uplift women, and to end the killing and imprisonment of black men under a false pretense of law enforcement. The world needs our ethical leaders to confront systems of power with the demand for equity and justice that result from the liberating gospel of Jesus Christ..
Your financial contribution directly impacts Payne’s ability to cultivate drum majors for social justice. It allows us to establish a stronger connection between pedagogy and technology through innovative approaches to theological education (we are developing a cutting-edge educational Smart Room for example). I invite you to join us in this ministry by making your gift today; your generosity is genuinely appreciated.
