We, the Payne family, bear the challenge of COVID-19 with you trusting and operating in the fullness of God’s unflinching love for all of creation. The Seminary has benefited from this love: Teaching and learning have not been disrupted. Online distance education, into which we prophetically stepped several years ago, is allowing our mission and vision to persist, not least over the last several months of the pandemic’s grasp.
That said, we are institutionally observing protocols to protect faculty and staff while they are on campus. Never more than 50 percent of our professional community, for example, is working in the main administrative building at once. To that end, while the library is currently staffed, we request that you arrange an appointment if you want to visit. You may email library@payneseminary.edu or call 937.971.2853. Appointments allow us to protect you and ourselves through social distancing and face covering (required). Appointments can be made from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.
Otherwise, you may find statewide information at coronavirus.ohio.gov.

Learn about the Payne Theological Seminary’s archive and collections.
The Bishop Reverdy C. Ransom Memorial Library Archives is dedicated to the collection and preservation of The African Methodist Episcopal Church (AMEC) and Payne Theological Seminary history.
The majority of archives documents the history of the AMEC and the church tradition while chronicling the leadership of Payne Theological Seminary, from its inception to present-day leadership.
Through our physical and digitized items, the library archive provides discovery opportunities for the institutional community, as well as the world.
