The Reverend Henry McNeal Brown Memorial ScholarshipThe Scholarship is awarded to a Payne student serving in the Eleventh Episcopal District of the A.M.E Church who shows academic potential and financial need.
Edmund D. Cooke Sr. and Elmer M. Martin Memorial Scholarship AwardCurrently enrolled in MDiv program, rising senior, cumulative GPA of 3.0, AME denomination, enrolled full-time, currently in the pastorate or pursuing the pastorate in an AME Church

Memorial Scholarship for Academic Excellence
The scholarship shall be granted to the student the faculty votes as showing the most promise for continuing graduate study after seminary.
Payne Research Scholarship – in Partnership with Dr. Daniel StevensonThis scholarship is awarded for the best overall thesis. This thesis must exceed the target number of primary and secondary resources for each perspective: historical, biblical, theological and practical. The context must be relevant for each perspective and supported by scholarly references. The thesis must integrate all four perspectives and lead to a logical synthesis based upon the results of the study. The Kate Turabian formatting and documentation must be followed explicitly.
The Donald W. Thompson Memorial ScholarshipThis scholarship shall be granted to Baptist students who demonstrate financial need.
Rev. and Mrs. Wesley E. Wharton Scholarship“The scholarship shall be granted to the student meeting the following criteria:
A. Outstanding promising performance as a pastor/scholar
B. Zealous commitment to his/her calling
C. GPA of 3.5 or higher
D. Good relationships with fellow students, trustees, faculty, and staff
E. Financial need
Names of scholarship recipients will be sent prior to graduation ceremonies.”
The Dr. Jamye Coleman Williams and Dr. McDonald Williams Annual Scholarship in Memory of Rev. F. Douglass Coleman, Sr.The scholarship shall be granted to an A.M.E. student who has the highest GPA (above a 3.25) upon entering his/her Senior year.
The Rev. Cornelia Wright Memorial ScholarshipScholarship is designed for a female Middler.
The Gordon ScholarshipMust have completed 1/3 of program; 3.5 GPA, must be employed, either PT or FT while in seminary; preference will be given to applicants with a dmeonstrated commitment to ministry in the 3rd Episcopal District of the AMEC for a minimum of 3 years following graduation. Application Required
Rev. Gilbert and Mrs Hope RuffinDemonstrates financial need; and demonstrates the capacity for pastoral ministry in the AME church; and maintains satisfactory academic progress; and demonstrates, through the submission of a written essay, how the scholarship candidate will utilize their education, and subsequent ministry, to positively impact the growth of the A.M.E. church.

Wright -WrightWorks MinistriesThe First Course Fund provides financial support for newly accepted students entering the Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or Master of Arts in Religion and Leadership (MARL) programs. Designed to help ease the transition into graduate theological studies, this fund assists students with the cost of their initial coursework and books as they begin their journey at Payne Theological Seminary.
