The Bishop Vinton R. Anderson Ecumenical Institute, housed at Payne Theological Seminary, promotes the exploration of ecumenical religious thought, study, and practice in an Afrocentric theological setting. The institute promotes cooperation in the interfaith community.

The African diaspora is rich and replete with stories. Stories of triumph and trauma, resistance and resilience, forgotten moments and emotions left on the table of previous generations. They are locked away in journals, letters, libraries and mental storage units waiting to be told. The stories of “how we got over”, “how we made it through” or “what happened when” have been marginalized or left far too long for others to tell.
